A Chicago community is grieving after a firefighter's wife and 7-year-old son died following a house fire. Outside his burning home, the young firefighter performed CPR on his wife, Fire Department spokesperson Larry Langford said earlier. Firefighters handed out smoke detectors and fire prevention materials in the neighborhood on Friday, a common practice for the Fire Department after fatal fires. "Every member of Local 2 and the Department mourns with our brother Walter and the Stewart family. This tragedy weighs heavy on our hearts, and we pledge our ongoing support," said Jim Tracy President of Local 2.

CFD Spokesman Larry Langford said the firefighter at Truck 55 in Edison Park rushed to the scene after hearing his own address come over the scanner. Four family members of a Chicago firefighter, including three young children, died after a house fire on March 7, fire officials said. One firefighter was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, officials stated. Despite the lack of warning, firefighters said no residents were injured, although one woman was treated at the scene for breathing problems. One firefighter suffered a minor hand injury and was treated at a local hospital.

One day after the fire, 7-year-old Ezra Day-Stewart was pronounced deceased, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office tells TODAY.com. Ezra’s cause and manner of death are pending, according to the medical examiner’s office. The four relatives were seriously injured when a fire broke out at the family home Tuesday night in the 2500 block of North Rutherford Avenue in the city's Montclare neighborhood. When the initial call of the blaze came through, a Chicago firefighter overheard his home address on dispatch, raced to the scene with a Battalion Chief and found his house on fire. CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago firefighter died Tuesday after he and two other firefighters were injured battling a predawn house fire on the city’s South Side, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to the two-story, single-family home on the block of West Ivanhoe Road just after 11 p.m. Many Firehouse 51 scenes are filmed at Cinespace Film Studios — the studio that houses all three One Chicago series — but many interior and exterior Firehouse 51 scenes are filmed on-site at the local firehouse. The deceased is a 3-year-old boy, the Lake County Coroner’s office released Monday night, but his identity is being withheld until his parents can be told. When he arrived on the scene, the firefighter performed CPR on his wife and children, who were all taken to area hospitals for smoke inhalation treatment, NBC Chicago reported. Ezra’s mother, Summer Day-Stewart, 36, died on March 9, and her autopsy is scheduled for March 14, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Our city mourns this tragic loss today, and is here to uplift all who loved Jermaine with our prayers and support. “It appears that firefighter Pelt went down as crews were being ordered out of the building. A mayday was called and he was quickly found near the hose line and brought out for treatment,” Nance-Holt said, shedding tears as she noted that she had known Pelt personally. First responders found Day-Stewart and the three kids unconscious from smoke inhalation and in grave condition, officials initially reported. The firefighter, Walter Stewart, was on-duty and responded to a fire in his own home in the 2500 block of North Rutherford Avenue and tried to save his wife with CPR in front of the family’s house Tuesday night.

Cara's home went up in flames, sparking a massive response from the fire department, with the dramatic scene even caught on video. Fire officials had no answer for why the smoke alarms didn't sound. ABC7 left a message for the building's management company, but we have not heard back.

New video from the neighbors' Ring camera shows the chaos as firefighters arrived on scene.

Day-Stewart’s other son, 2, and daughter, 7, have been unconscious since the fire broke out and remain in “extremely critical condition,” Chicago fire officials said Thursday. Two Chicago firefighters sustained injuries while working to extinguish a house fire in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood Sunday, according to officials. CHICAGO — A Chicago firefighter has died after a house fire on the city’s South Side, officials announced Tuesday. A mother and her three children have all died following a blaze at the home of a Chicago firefighter in the Montclare neighborhood on the city’s Northwest Side, officials said Saturday. Two of a Chicago firefighter's children have died from injuries sustained in a house fire that also claimed the lives of their mother and brother earlier this week, according to authorities. Two women, one in her 60s and another in her 80s, were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition to be treated for minor smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

With just a few tools, it's possible to make a DIY dog house. Dog houses are fairly simple and budget-friendly projects and can be usually be completed by someone with just basic building skills. They'll take anywhere from half a day to a few days to complete and can easily be done for under $100. “If it hops, wiggles, or crawls” you’re likely to see it at The Reptile Zoo.

Biology / Life Science

It culminates in the Deathmobile ramming the reviewing stand, tossing Marmalard, Wormer, DePasto and their wives into the air. Wormer organizes a kangaroo court led by the Omegas, which revokes the Deltas' charter and confiscates the contents of their house. Otter, Boon, Pinto, and Flounder take a road trip in Flounder's brother Fred's borrowed Lincoln Continental.

We can’t think of many places you could see wild bears, parrots, mountain lions, whales and buffalo (yup!) all in the same day, but this is Southern California — and you totally could. Our region’s bountiful mix of deserts, forests, mountains and ocean draws tens of thousands of visitors each year to take in all that natural splendor, including our iconic wildlife. Wait a few days or weeks and watch to see if any birds use your nest as their home. Here are some of the most common ones and the animals that use them.

Be sure to measure your dog to ensure you’ll get the right size doghouse. Many websites include diagrams on how to use your pet’s measurements to select the proper size. Opt for stainless steel hardware that will hold up longer in outdoor weather. Make sure your roof is slanted, not flat, so that snow and rain will slide off. And opt for those with asphalt or other roofing material since the roof is the first place to leak and often the reason you need a replacement. Check the thickness of the wood and the level of insulation, if any, before you buy.

But if you want to try it out in colder weather, Petsfit sells a separate Dog House Insulation Kit that fits snugly inside. The Petsfit dog house is also practical, with a slanted roof and translucent door flaps, so your dog can find refuge from rain. Plus, the roof of the Petsfit Wooden Dog House opens up like a trunk or chest, with pneumatic braces that make it easy to lift the top and clean inside. The floor—made of the same spruce slats as the exterior walls—is similarly easy to remove and clean.

Various incidents deepen the animosity between Delta, Omega, and Wormer, including the accidental death of Neidermeyer's horse during a retaliatory prank for bullying ROTC member Flounder. Otter flirts with Mandy, having previously had sex with her, unbeknownst to Marmalard. National Lampoon's Animal House is a 1978 American comedy film directed by John Landis and written by Harold Ramis, Douglas Kenney and Chris Miller. It stars John Belushi, Tim Matheson, John Vernon, Verna Bloom, Thomas Hulce and Donald Sutherland. The film is about a trouble-making fraternity whose members challenge the authority of the dean of the fictional Faber College. “Dogs need to have protection from the cold and wind, as well as the sun when hot.

Many animals design their homes to trap heat in and keep the cold out, especially when there are babies living in the home, since baby animals cannot keep themselves warm like their parents can. Nests, dens, and burrows are examples of this type of home. This tour follows the same format and description of the Family Tour but is intended for a larger group of adults only from mixed households as part of an organized group activity. The cast of comedy classic 'Animal House' have pursued careers in acting, directing and producing since the film's release 40 years ago. The talents of director John Landis and Saturday Night Live's irrepressible John Belushi conspired to create a rambunctious, subversive college comedy that continues to resonate.

Constructed with Finnish spruce wood, weather-resistant asphalt shingles, and stainless steel parts, the Petsfit Wooden Dog House's solid construction makes it a clear standout and our favorite overall dog house. If there are animal lovers in your family, this is the list for you. Here in Southern California, we’re so fortunate to have the opportunity to get up close and personal with a large variety of animals — from camels to sharks and snakes to cows. Here are 15 sites that offer up-close-and-personal time Animal Encounters. Be sure to consider the wood finish if your doghouse will be exposed to any weather. Look for a waterproof finish, or an unfinished product that you can treat with exterior paint or a water-resistant stain.

Take a drive down to Palm Desert and plan on spending some time at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. Several of the actors who were cast as college students, including Thomas Hulce, Karen Allen, and Kevin Bacon, were just beginning their film careers. Matheson, also cast as a student, was already a seasoned actor, having appeared in movies and television since the age of 13. Similar in look and design to our best overall pick, this dog house also has a slanted asphalt roof that opens, a raised floor, and adjustable feet for leveling. It’s made from traditional pine with a glazed, treated, weatherproof finish, with an asphalt roof for further weatherproofing.

‎‎Design Get started

atlassian design system

The process is made much easier since each product has its own ADG representative to collaborate with a member of the design systems team. Now 5 years later, Atlassian Design has grown to almost 200 people while the design system governs the brand and its 12 products across multiple devices, platforms, and marketing properties. It was challenging to know when and how to use some of our components / other platform components and when to design new ones. As Nathan Curtis says, a design system isn’t a project – it’s a product serving products. Once the first version rolls out, the governance and iteration never ends.

Learn Atlassian’s design guidelines

The need for websites with a good user experience cannot be over-emphasized in this day and age. So those are our choices for top design systems and what you can learn from them. Hopefully, this will have you seeing them in a new light; as learning tools and resources to help you understand UI, UX and product design better and give you inspiration when applying it to your own work. We utilized a centralized model which allowed for every designer in the company to contribute.

How Atlassian Design System Was Built

Discuss with the team to decide which version of these elements will be canonical. Design systems are exactly that – a better method and process for Lego-like design and development. A way for teams to industrialize the menial work so they can focus on the core problems.

Unify your visual design

For instance, if you open up an icon library like react-icons, you will notice each collection has a unique and distinct feel. Below are the design systems which are often utilized by Open UI for research purposes. Over the course of 2013, and with Atlassian doubling in size nearly every year, I had basically onboarded about 500 people about the importance of our design system and how they can use it. I found this to be a really effective way of changing the company culture with regard to design. Without doing something that didn’t scale, we might have taken a lot longer to get started. When you’re working on your system, try not to get too obsessed with over-engineering a seamless, perfect workflow but instead look for scrappy ways to start, and just keep making progress if it’s working.

When a designer needs to whip up a new landing page, all the pre-designed UI symbol elements are ready to drop in and can be non-destructably edited. When a marketer needs to send out a newsletter, there is no question as to the kind of tone the copy should be written in or what the header image should be. It's all there, clearly laid out and because everyone has discussed, contributed to and agreed upon it there is no question as to what and how things need to be done.

Agile Design

We're on a mission to make it easy for teams to design, develop, and deliver high-quality Atlassian UI. A common misconception about design systems is that once they’re established, or, in this case, once their documentation is published or site is launched, they become an omnipotent and an unchangeable source of truth. Modern technologies like CSS make it easy to separate the look of an application from the logic in an application. Likewise, make sure to structure automated tests so they will be resilient when the visual design evolves.

Back in 2013 the designer to engineer ratio was something in the range of 1 designer to every 15–20 engineers. While I shudder at the thought of that number today, back then I tried to use that imbalance to my advantage. Something that helped me get the engineering org on my side at Atlassian was to create a talk for new starters during their first week of onboarding at the company. About 15 or so people would be there every week and I’d be able to get them to understand what we were trying to do from day 1.

Everyone approaches and thinks of values and principles differently, so we started by gathering inspiration from other design systems. Then we crafted clear definitions of what values and principles mean to us, along with where they fit with our strategy, mission, and vision. Our building blocks work together to create products that feel familiar, cohesive, and part of a family. Our Figma libraries and tools include our foundational styles, design tokens, components, and other helpers. Usually, the safest approach is to analyze existing systems to see which ones are the closest to your brand and needs.

The key lessons I learned creating a popular Design System

In a nutshell, a design system is a collection of documents, articles, examples, code snippets, screenshots, design guidelines, components, philosophies and other digital assets for a product design company. Think of it as a big knowledge-base that is part UI kit, part documentation with instructions, language and coding guidelines all wrapped up together. Each component meets a specific interaction or UI need, and has been specifically created to work together to create patterns and intuitive user experiences.

As I mentioned above, the Atlassian design team at the start of 2013 was relatively small (~13 people) compared to the engineering team (~300 people). One of the benefits of including written guidelines was that engineers could make a huge amount of progress without a designer there. It meant that we could stop designing screens in Sketch and instead, jump on a whiteboard and brainstorm a flow, or start to work on much bigger product problems that existed upstream. With the uptick in design systems discussions over the last couple of years, I’m occasionally asked for tips or insights from my experience building the design system at Atlassian.

atlassian design system

It began with extensive audits across our content, design, tooling, and code. We applied the visual foundations of our design system and reused existing components to design and build the new site, truly putting our design system to the test. Starting from an existing Design System with a similar Component & Pattern Library might set you up with a great start.

We want to do this again, not only because it was fun but also because it’s a great way to get creative and empathize with designers using our design system. Where your team easily can discover, collect and share visual content relevant to different projects. After the rollout of the first version, a design system becomes a journey that never ends. Finally, make sure you implement your icon library and other styles.

Bring React, Storybook or npm components to a design tool and keep designers and developers in sync. The primary benefit of design systems is their ability to replicate designs quickly by utilising pre-made UI components and elements. Teams can continue to use the same elements over and over, reducing the need to reinvent the wheel and thus risking unintended inconsistency. The Design System (DS) is single source of truth for our interface design. It contains all of elements used in our UI, along with rules and guidelines on how to implement them. Perhaps also some interactive patterns (hover on clickable elements), border visual properties, or maybe animations?

Atlassian Design System values and principles work in tandem with all of the others, not in place of them. They help our team align on what kind of design system we want to build at Atlassian, what needs we address, and how we address them. And they’re not just for our design system team — we hope to use them to enable contribution in the future.

The key lessons I learned creating a popular Design System by Matt Bond

atlassian design system

We solve common problems and provide a foundation for teams to build on. We avoid consistency for the sake of consistency and reject infinite flexibility. This means evolving our design language and infrastructure for the future of Atlassian design, through things like tokens.

Use a component

A special thank you to our Atlassian Design System teammates for their participation in the workshops and co-creation of our new values and principles. We facilitated two workshops with 30 people in a fully remote setting. One workshop focused on values while the other focused on principles. At a high level, values are fundamental beliefs and what we hold true. The strengths of our design system and team center around these core values. We strongly believe in the power of co-creation to capture the perspectives of our diverse, multi-disciplinary team.

How to build your first design system

When Atlassian expanded their focus on design in 2012, Jürgen Spangl was hired as the new Head of Design. One of the first projects he initiated was creating the Atlassian Design Guidelines (ADG) – their new internal design system. This part houses all our individual UI components, organised according to Atomic Design principles. This is the source of truth to be referred to by anyone implementing the UI.

Components

We’ve published our values and principles on atlassian.design for everyone to use (and hold us accountable for). We’ve been highlighting the usage in our team rituals and conversations. We’ll continue to look into new ways to encourage adoption, such as adding questions to help the team apply these principles. Our building blocks work together to create a suite of products that feel familiar, cohesive, and part of a family. The milestone we’ve reached has been an amazing multi-disciplinary and cross-collaborative effort across multiple Atlassian teammates, in collaboration with the Atlassian Design System Team. Deep appreciation goes to all the team members involved in making this launch happen and for continuing to help us scale design and development at Atlassian.

atlassian design system

If you have considered creating one for your product or company, are in the process of making one, or have tried and given up, hopefully these insights will help you create a better design system for your company. Atlassian Design System, ATL for short, is a design system which mission is to create simple, intuitive, and beautiful experiences for their end-users. Atlassian’s products include Jira, Trello, and Confluence, so their design system needs to work across those products plus serve for people who built internal product and more. Foundations are the visual elements needed to create engaging end-to-end user experiences. This includes guidance on iconography, typography, layout and structure.

Understanding design systems is important especially if you want to stay ahead of the curve and deliver the best user experiences possible. Learn more about how to create design systems with this tutorial to take the next step. There were many attempts at Atlassian to redesign the product suite before the groundwork of documenting our system components was satisfactory. It took a long time to build the architecture of the system that but it made it easier (and faster) for Atlassian to refresh the visual language later on because the foundations were solid. A properly built design system is truly a gold standard — from the general building blocks of every piece of design, through the UI patterns, and building up the high-level rules defining the future of the product. We understand how unpleasant it is to navigate across two sites to find the right information you need.

Agile Design

The Atlassian Design System vision, based on our values and principles. Also see the design recommendations in each component (for example, button usage guidelines). Now you should be ready to install and use all design system packages.

Start by doing things that don’t scale

By getting others to follow what you’re doing, and contribute to making the patterns and guidelines better, you will have the buy-in and support you need to really making a difference and build great products. I can’t over-emphasize how critical this is to the success of your systems. Resist the urge to take this as an opportunity to redesign your product.

Finally, plan a process of suggesting new patterns to make sure that everyone in the product team has a say in the evolution of the design system. Throughout the process, we made sure the values and principles stayed close to the team’s original beliefs and intent (what we hold true). We constantly referred back to the workshop discussions, groupings, and voting exercises as we sparred drafts.

To create a design system for an existing website, analyze current design patterns, identify reusable elements, establish guidelines, and document components for consistency. A UX UI design system is a comprehensive set of principles, patterns, and assets that guide the creation of user-centered interfaces, ensuring a cohesive and consistent user experience. Design Systems play a vital role in streamlining the website design and development process, as well as enhancing consistency, efficiency, and scalability. Providing a centralized repository of design assets and guidelines empowers teams to build cohesive and quality sites and apps. Not the most glamorous of design systems, but believe it or not the U.S government actually has design principles and guidelines for their online touch-points! Over the last year, our cross-disciplinary team has accomplished so much to bring the new design system site to life.

These patterns help maintain layout and usability consistency throughout the interface. In a design system, all the design principles, visual assets, and patterns are thoroughly documented. One of my personal favorite design systems, Atlassian makes project management and collaboration tools like Jira and Trello that are used by thousands of teams worldwide. Their focus is on agile tools for agile teams by helping them stay on track as they plan, develop, and deliver products.

Creating a system and redesigning your app at the same time is going to slow you down significantly. It is much easier to document what you have today, both the good and the bad patterns, and then fix the bad patterns with a redesign of the visual language afterwards. The ADG team is regularly exploring changes and consolidations to the design system.

This is creating a custom design system from scratch, i.e., you are implementing a design system to meet the unique needs of your website and brand. Its toolbox is filled with pre-built components, a style guide outlining visual elements, and a set of design principles explaining the reasons behind creating user-centered interfaces. It's a single source of truth for everything that makes up your website's look and feel. Design Systems are a collection of reusable components, patterns, and guidelines that serve as the foundation for designing and building websites. It encompasses not only visual elements but also the underlying principles and rules governing their use.

We strive to make our design system work for everyone who relies on it, regardless of discipline, skill level, or tenure. By enabling as many people as possible to use the system, we multiply our impact. While convenient to author and publish early on, long term risks may outweigh benefits. Sibling sites can indicate a corrosive divide between design and engineering, too. The Atlassian Design System Team is pleased to announce that our new home for Atlassian Design System is now live at atlassian.design!

See each component’s code documentation for individual package installation instructions. These are required for our components to work as expected in light and dark mode (coming soon). This page lists how to use Atlassian's design system components and developer tools.

It's their master plan, the source of all truth and a reference to make sure that everyone who works on their product is always on the same page, consistent and in agreeance with the way things should be. Ben Brignell maintains principles.design as an open source resource. Design doesn’t scale easily because it’s a mixture of art and science.

Some wood doghouses are made from thin interlocking planks or full panels that could break easily if your dog is rough on their home. Sturdy wood can mean that your doghouse is also not easy to move. Most doghouses on the market are made of either wood or plastic.

They arrive at Emily Dickinson College, an all-girls institution, where Otter poses as Frank, the fiancé of a recently deceased student named Fawn Liebowitz to find dates for himself and the others. They stop at a roadhouse bar where Otis Day and the Knights are performing, unaware that the clientele is exclusively Black. Some of the patrons intimidate the Deltas into abandoning their dates and fleeing.

Many of the magazine's writers were recent college graduates, hence its appeal to students all over the country. Doug Kenney was a Lampoon writer and the magazine's first editor-in-chief. They made their debut in 1973's National Lampoon's High School Yearbook, a satire of a Middle America 1964 high school yearbook. Kroger's and Pepperidge's characters in the yearbook were effectively the same as their characters in the movie, whereas Vernon Wormer was a P.E.

Our programs follow the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to make sure that we support teachers' curricula. Now that the movie has reached its 40th birthday — it first hit theaters July 28, 1978 — The Hollywood Reporter breaks down what the principal actors have been doing since the fraternity members' expulsion from Faber College. The University of Oregon celebrates its participation in the film. Filming began on October 24, 1977, and concluded in the middle of December 1977.[1] and Landis brought the actors who played the Deltas up five days early to bond. Belushi and his wife Judy rented a house in south Eugene to keep him away from alcohol and drugs;[13][24] she remained in Oregon while he commuted to New York City for Saturday Night Live.

A small herd was brought to the island for a film shoot in the 1920s, then marooned there (Hollywood wasn’t embracing the whole “treat animals ethically” approach back then). But the buffalo herd flourished, growing to about 150, with free-range over the island. Local conservationists do manage the population, though, via bison birth control.

The film's significant cultural impact can be seen across many college campuses in the United States. At Harding University, a private Christian university affiliated with the Churches of Christ, Titans Men's Social Club refuses to put on a spring formal for its members. Instead, the men of Titans choose to celebrate an event called "TOGA" which is heavily inspired by the iconic toga concert from the movie. In the 1980s, it was difficult for Titans to throw a Valentine's Day function because the vast majority of members were busy attending Valentine's Day functions put on by the Women's Social Clubs on campus.

Families may opt to purchase a Single Day Pass which allows you to discover and explore the grounds at your own pace. Families will have the chance to interact with the animals from outside of the enclosures. Or, you can opt to get even closer to some of the animals for an additional fee. “Pick your favorite animal enclosure and experience a unique and positive connection with our animals from inside the enclosure.” Families may choose from the Tortoise Landing, the Bird room, the Reptile Room, and more.

Intended to be in intimate experience for a small group of close friends/family. Tickets must be reserved in advance and we close promptly at 2p. The next morning, Boon discovers Katy has spent the night with English professor Dave Jennings. Babs tells Marmalard that Mandy and Otter have been having an affair; Marmalard has Babs lure Otter to a motel where the Omegas beat him up. With Otter's support, Bluto rallies the Deltas to seek revenge during the annual Homecoming parade. D-Day converts Fred's damaged Lincoln into the "Deathmobile," an armored vehicle concealed inside a cake-shaped breakaway float, and the Deltas wreak havoc during the parade.

Other options are available as well such as a Guided Tour and a Behind the Scenes tour. We’d love to have you no matter what event you have in mind. We host weddings, bar and bat mitzvas, and corporate functions.

Our best overall pick, the Petsfit Wooden Dog House, features three colors and a smart, functional, weather-resistant design in three sizes. It’s unlikely they’ll raise their armies from the sewers and lay waste to our civilization, but their street smarts mean they’ll be stealing cat food and crashing office pizza parties for the foreseeable future. Raccoons have been documented using water displacement to access treats and can learn and remember how to bypass door locks. The predators are also at high risk of ingesting rat poison that humans introduce to their food chain, which has sickened and killed several mountain lions in just the past few years.

Being at The Gentle Barn is like walking through a giant storybook where you’ll hear the animals’ stories of resilience and learn what they teach us about forgiveness, unconditional love, and living in the moment. You are sure to fall in love with animals more deeply than ever before. Oasis Camel Dairy provides an opportunity to get up-close and personal with animals we don’t see a lot of in Southern California — camels. Tours give families the chance to feed the camels and mini sheep on-site. Plus, you’ll see colorful parrots, cockatoos, and giant goldfish. At Canzelle Alpacas, families will see much more than alpacas.

AND AWARD-WINNING SHIPS

In July, four vaccinated adults and two unvaccinated children tested positive for COVID-19 on a Royal Caribbean ship that had required passengers 16 and older to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and all passengers to receive a negative test before boarding. Last week, 27 people – 26 of whom were crew members – tested positive for COVID-19 on Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Vista ship. More than 99% of crew members were vaccinated on the ship and 96.5% of passengers were vaccinated, according to the Belize Tourism Board. The new guidance applies to older adults, people with certain medical conditions and pregnant and recently pregnant people. Prior to Friday’s announcement, the agency recommended that only people who were not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 avoid cruise ships. The CDC recommends people who go on cruises wear a mask in shared spaces and get tested one to three days before their trip and three to five days after, regardless of vaccination status.

CDC warns older adults, travelers in COVID high-risk groups not to take cruises, even if they're vaccinated

Passengers who are not fully vaccinated should also self-quarantine for at least seven days after their cruise ends, according to the CDC's website. It all starts with the boldest cruise ships at sea — and ours have won awards for everything from world class dining and spectacular entertainment, to record-setting onboard thrills and groundbreaking innovation. COVID-19 outbreaks have been reported on cruise ships in recent months, despite various testing and vaccination requirements among cruise lines. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated its guidance for travelers who are at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19 to recommend they avoid cruise ships, regardless of vaccination status. Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Line added mask requirements in select spaces and testing requirements for all passengers, regardless of vaccination status, earlier this month.
